Grow Your Own Indoor Herb Garden For Health Bnefits

Fresh herbs are such a great way to add healthy nutrients to your diet. They’re plant-based foods that offer Vitamins, antioxidants, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. They also provide abundant flavour to any dish. I always have fresh herbs on my windowsill because I use them daily. Pinch off a few leaves and you can change the entire flavour of your dish into something amazing and you’ll get added health benefits.

Citronella grass

Citronella grass is one of the most effective natural ways to repel and fight mosquitoes and different insects and pests. It is widely used in making different natural and even chemical insect repellent products. But, it is not only an efficient mosquito repelling tool, citronella grass will also look great in any home or garden.

Petunia

This perennial is sometimes known as “nature’s pesticide,” because it can repel aphids, tomato hornworm, asparagus beetles, leafhoppers, and squash bugs. “Petunias are very easy to grow and you can plant them in the ground or keep them potted

Lavender

Benefits. Lavender oil is believed to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which can help to heal minor burns and bug bites. ... In addition to helping with digestive problems, lavender is used to help relieve pain from headaches, sprains, toothaches, and sores. It can also be used to prevent hair loss.

Nasturtium

Nasturtium is a plant. The parts that grow above the ground are used to make medicine. People take nasturtium in combination with other herbs for urinary tract infections (UTIs), swollen airways, cough, and bronchitis.
It repels whiteflies, squash bugs, aphids, several beetles, and cabbage loopers. This one will help other plants in your garden, too. “They produce an airborne chemical that repels insects, protecting not only themselves but other plants in the grouping,”
Rosemary

The herb has been hailed since ancient times for its medicinal properties. Rosemary was traditionally used to help alleviate muscle pain, improve memory, boost the immune and circulatory system, and promote hair growth

Basil

Basil is an herb. The parts of the plant that grow above the ground are used tomake medicine. Basil is used for stomach spasms, loss of appetite, intestinal gas, kidney conditions, fluid retention, head colds, warts, and worm infections. It is alsoused to treat snake and insect bites.

Lemongrass

Lemongrass is used for treating digestive tract spasms, stomachache, high blood pressure, convulsions, pain, vomiting, cough, achy joints (rheumatism), fever, the common cold, and exhaustion. It is also used to kill germs and as a mild astringent.
Lemongrass is closely related to citronella and repels mosquitoes, but unlike the latter, it’s edible and is commonly used in Southeast Asian cooking. “It can grow three- to five-feet tall and adds lots of extra height and texture to the garden
Mint
Indigestion and gas: Mint is a calming and soothing herb that has been used for thousands of years to aid with upset stomach or indigestion. Mint is thought to increase bile secretion and encourage bile flow, which helps to speed and ease digestion (and which may also support healthy cholesterol levels)
Refreshing mint can be used in dishes and cocktails, but it has an added bonus. It’s a perennial that repels mosquitoes
