Odisha issues warning for all coastal, nearby districts in view of probable cyclone
A cyclonic circulation lies over Southeast & adjoining Central Bay of Bengal between 3.1 km & 5.8 km above mean sea level . Under its influence, a Low-Pressure Area is very likely to form over East-central Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea around 22nd May, 2021. It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm by 24th May 2021. It very likely to move northwestwards and reach OdishaWest Bengal Coast around 26th May morning
Odisha government has issued a warning for all the coastal and nearby districts in view of the probable cyclone in the Bay of Bengal. In addition, all the line departments including health, electricity and water supply have been put in readiness to respond to any cyclone-related exigencies. Adequate numbers of NDRF and ODRAF teams will also be relocated for rescue and relief operations, once the exact place of landfall is ascertained. This was revealed in a high level meeting chaired by the state Chief Secretary in capital Bhubaneswar today.
According to the Bhubaneswar-based Meteorological Centre, a low-pressure area is likely to form over the East Central and North Andaman sea by tomorrow. It is likely to move North Westward to take the shape of a cyclonic storm by the coming 24th. It may then deepen further and likely to touch the Odisha-West Bengal coast by the morning of 26th of this month.Under its impact, many areas over the Odisha coast may experience light to moderate rainfall with wind speed of 50 to 60 kilometres per hour with effect from the 25th of May. Meanwhile, the state government has appealed to the people not to to go for panic buying of essential commodities as the government is fully aware and also the exact trajectory of the probable cyclone is not yet clearly established.
