Mohd Ali Chandan, Govt Counselor (EC) Agriculture, LAHDC Kargil met with Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) & Director General Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in his workplace chamber at Krishi Bhawan, the national capital and mentioned varied problems for the upliftment of Agriculture and horticulture Sector in Kargil district. He requested for lifting the ban to export fruits from Ladakh as within the erstwhile State of J&K there was a ban to export contemporary fruits from Ladakh to the remainder of the country.
 He aforesaid the ban on export not solely limits space growth below temperate fruits however also build them weaker economically, as at the present district Kargil is leading in the production of Apricot with 9033 MT annually from regarding sixteen sq km cultivated area. Chandan aforesaid that the District has vast potential of production of export quality temperate fruits and exports them to the national and even on international markets. He additionally requested the institution of “National Research Centre” and “Gamma Radiation Centre” in Kargil to push the Agriculture and gardening things in terms of drying, packaging and worth addition of products. The govt Councilor also requested for sanction of a special package of funds to promote Agriculture & gardening Sector within the district, as at the present Krishi Vigyan Kendra SKUAST Kargil is enjoying a key role with relation to Research, coaching, and Exposures to the farmers by adopting latest techniques, that special package is needed for the shaping of Prime Minister’s dream of doubling farmers’ income. Secretary DARE & Director General (ICAR) Government of the Republic of India assured the manager Councilor that every one attainable facilitate from GoI are given to uplift the Agriculture Sector of the district. He any aforesaid that the strain will be consummated in due course of time.
