Land use validation for North East States & JK under PM-KISAN exempted from all Aadhaar related requirements till Mar 2020
The High-Level Committee constituted to decide on alternate implementation mechanism for eligibility of the farmers in North East States where land ownership rights are community-based met in New Delhi today under the chairmanship of Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar to consider the proposals received from the Government of Meghalaya.
After due deliberations, the Committee decided on the following procedure for land use validation in the State for identification of beneficiaries for getting benefits under PM-Kisan Scheme:
(1) Khasi & Jaintia Regions
(a) Clan Land: Head of the clan will issue a list of farmers who cultivate on a clan land along with the no objection certificate for the farmer to avail the assistance under PM-KISAN. The document will be validated by the concerned headman/Daloi/Traditional Chief and countersigned by the District Agriculture Officer.
(b) Community Land: The document will be validated by the concerned Headman/Doloi along with the members of the Village Council (Dorbar), and countersigned by the District Agriculture Officer.
(2) Garo Hills Region:
(a) Clan land: Head of the clan will issue a list of farmers who cultivate on a clan land along with the no objection certificate for the farmer to avail the assistance under PM-KISAN. The document will be validated by the concerned Nokma (Traditional Chief) and countersigned by the District Agriculture Officer.
(b) Community Land: The document will be validated by the concerned NOKMA and countersigned by the District Agriculture Officer.
As per the estimated data of farmers in the State of Meghalaya, there are 2,25,421 farmers eligible for the PM-Kisan Scheme. Out of these, as on 26.11.2019, a total of 60,646 beneficiaries have already been paid the benefit. Meghalaya has been exempted from all Aadhaar related requirements for the Scheme till 31st March, 2020, along with Assam and J&K.
