Significant Weather Features ;

The Depression over north Chhattisgarh & neighborhood moved west-northwestwards with a speed of about 29 kmph in last six hours and lay centred at 1730 hours IST of today, the 08th August, 2019, near Latitude 23.6°N and Longitude 80.2°E over East Madhya Pradesh about 80 km east - southeast of Damoh(East Madhya Pradesh), about 150 km east-southeast of Sagar(East Madhya Pradesh) and about 50 km northeast of Jabalpur(East Madhya Pradesh). It is very likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and weaken gradually into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area during next 36 hours.

♦ Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are very likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Karnataka and Kerala during next 2 days and over Gujarat during next 3 days.

 ♦ Isolated extremely heavy falls are also likely over south Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha and south Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, south Konkan & Goa, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of Tamilnadu & Interior Karnataka on 08th August; over southwest Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, East Rajasthan, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka and ghat areas of South Interior Karnataka on 09th August.

Meteorological Analysis (Based on 1730 hours IST)
♦ The Depression over north Chhattisgarh & neighborhood moved west-northwestwards with a speed of about 29 kmph in last six hours and lay centred at 1730 hours IST of today, the 08th August, 2019, near Latitude 23.6°N and Longitude 80.2°E over East Madhya Pradesh about 80 km east-southeast of Damoh (East Madhya Pradesh), about 150 km east-southeast of Sagar(East Madhya Pradesh) and about 50 km northeast of Jabalpur(East Madhya Pradesh). It is very likely to continue to move west northwestwards and weaken gradually into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area during next 36 hours.

♦ The monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Phalodi, Ajmer, Vidisha, the center of the Depression over East Madhya Pradesh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhargarh, Balasore and thence eastsoutheastwards to eastcentral Bay of Bengal and extends upto 2.1 km above mean sea level.

♦ The feeble off-shore trough at mean sea level from south Maharashtra coast to Kerala coast persists.
♦ The cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan & neighborhood at 1.5 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The cyclonic circulation lies over southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala coast extending between 7.6 & 9.5 km above mean sea level persists.

♦ The trough between 3.1 & 7.6 km above mean sea level from southwest Rajasthan to northwest Bay of Bengal persists and now run across West Madhya Pradesh, cyclonic circulation associated with the Depression over East Madhya Pradesh and Odisha tilting southwards with height.

09 August : Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy falls very likely at isolated places over Gujarat, Kerala & Mahe and Coastal & South Interior Karnataka; Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, West Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan; Heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, southwest Rajasthan and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Heavy rainfall at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka, Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.
♦ Strong winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph, are likely to prevail over northeast, central & southwest Arabian Sea and along & off West Coast and West Bengal-Odisha coasts and Andaman Sea.
